Welcome to Kinkade Family Foundation’s first blog post! The first of many to keep a network of people and organizations informed of the work we’re doing in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the world.
My four daughters and I created this foundation to partner with nonprofits in the U.S. and abroad in bringing art education to children. Together, we’ll provide hands-on art camps, exhibitions, discovery programs and more. Most recently, we partnered with Casa Generación in Peru to design, create, and implement an art program for underprivileged children and young adults from the streets of Lima. The program taught basic skills in various forms of art, and produced an engaged, energized and empowered group of young citizens.
The foundation also curates and facilitates traveling collections of Thomas Kinkade originals to share more about the many facets of Thom. Ideas are exchanged, community is fostered, new connections are made and minds are expanded. Recent exhibitions at Oregon State University and Utah State University exceeded our expectations. Many more to come.
Thom believed in the transformative power of art. From his own experience, he saw how profoundly art could change a life. We want to give more people a chance to express themselves creatively, especially those who would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so, and make art a viable career path.
